But we were just talking about the difference effort makes, weren't we? I know sometimes it isn't that way. And sometimes you have to make the effort whether anything changes or not. But it's not all the same, enough to make a rule of it, I don't believe.
We were talking about putting effort in. I don't know that we were talking about that effort making a difference. Maybe it's just nice to pretend sometimes! The pretending can be worthwhile enough to make an effort sometimes.
But if you know the effort doesn't matter, then why would you put it in? Why would you bother? Other than pretending, I mean.
We were though, the words are right there! If you had sent Lan Zhan a lot of pictures to start with, he probably wouldn't have answered, that's true. But you took a more strenuous path instead and made a friend that I'm assuring you is very good. That's not pretending!
And I didn't say it wouldn't matter, I said nothing would change. Clearly sometimes it matters to the person making the choice anyway.
